Popular brands like Linksys, D-Link and Motorola use it as their router’s default IP address. Using the same IP address, you can gain access to your network routers’ admin settings. These settings are responsible for the functioning, maintenance and responsiveness of your network. - In the case of a Windows-powered computer, you need to Click on Start > Open Run > Type Command Prompt > Hit Enter.

There are two requirements in case you want to login into your router’s admin panel. First, your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone should be connected to your router’s connection. There should be an active internet connection. Please note that this type of internet connection can be either wired or wireless. Anyway, here are the steps that are needed:
- Open a web browser of your choice.
- Go to the address bar and type: 192.168.15.1 and click on Go. Or you can also click on http://192.168.15.1.
- In case you are unsure about the IP address, do the above-given steps to find out the default IP.
- Wait for a login page to load up.
- Enter the default login credentials:
User – admin
Pass – password
- You will get logged in successfully after entering the correct details.

How to change the WiFi SSID & Password?
One of the best liberties that the admin panel gives you is the liberty to change the WiFi name and password. The process is fairly easy and it can be done using any computing device that is connected to the network (wired/wireless). A secured WiFi connection should have its password and SSID get changed every alternate month. This way it remains safe from external agents and it also ensures longevity.
Changing the WiFi SSID:
- Open a web browser and enter the IP address: 192.168.15.1.
- Login using the credentials.
- Once the WiFi administrator panel loads up, go to Wireless Settings.
- Go to the network type, i.e. either 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz and go to the option that says SSID.
- Enter the SSID (wireless name) of your choice (can be alphanumeric with special characters). Should not be more than 32 characters long.
- Click on Apply and wait for the router to reboot.
- Done.
Changing the WiFi Password:
- Do the same steps (1 & 2) from the above list of options.
- Go to the Wireless Settings panel.
- Select your desired wireless connection type: 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz.
- Make sure that the security tab is ticked.
- After that select the security type to something like WPA-PSK/2.
- Enter the pre-shared key (wireless password) of your choice.
- There are no such restrictions for that so you can set it to anything that you want (under 32 characters).
- Click on Apply, wait for the router to reboot.
- Done.
Fun fact! You can choose different names (and passwords) for 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz connections.
How to reset the router for 192.168.15.1?
In order to reset the router press and hold the reset button (present at the back of the router) while it’s switched on. Wait for it to reboot and once it turns back on, it will be factory reset.
