Change JioFi WiFi (PSK) Password from jiofi.local.html

You get the liberty of changing your WiFi password from the admin console. In order to do that you will have to navigate to Settings > WiFi Settings > Security Key. This same key will be the password that will be required in case someone wishes to access your JioFi network. You can also select your SSID (WiFi network name) from the same menu. It is the public WiFi name that will be visible to everyone else.

The JioFi router supports a range of passwords – open, WPA and WPA2. In case you set your WiFi to open then it would not require a password to login. However, the latter two – WPA & WPA2 require a combination of alphanumeric and special characters that can either be set by you or the router sets one by default.

Quick Password Tip: Be sure to use a strong password for your router as the simple ones are very easy to break into. It is advisable that you use WPA2 type WiFi security at all times and also that you change your router and wireless occasionally.

In case you are not able to access jiofi.local.html, you can always factory reset your JioFi router. Do not worry since factory resetting is absolutely safe and is recommended in case the device malfunctions. Kindly note that after resetting, the device will be out of the box new and you will have to reconfigure it once again. Here are the steps to be followed for factory reset (ensure that your device is switched on):

  • Take out the back cover of your router and find the small hole that has RESET written next to it.
  • Insert a needle or a toothpick (thin & sharp pointed object) inside the reset hole.
  • Press the small reset button and keep holding it for 10-15 seconds.
  • Leave the button once all of the LEDs on the device turn red and the JioFi restarts.
  • Once the device has successfully rebooted, the factory default settings will get applied.

Kindly note that factory resetting wouldn’t help in case of some firewall blocking on your system. In such case, add the firewall exception and then try to connect.
