Xfinity Router Login provides an interface that is necessary to set up the network connection. Just like every router/modem, Xfinity routers also come with an admin-based system, also known as Xfinity Router Admin Panel. This page can be accessed via the following IP address – 10.0.0.1 or 10.0.1.1.
If you own an Xfinity router, you can also try clicking on the link – http://10.0.0.1. It will open the Xfinity Router Login page, easily leading to the admin page.
The Xfinity router’s admin page’s menus and options are well arranged, and it even comes with an automated firmware updating system. In case you are unfamiliar with how to find out your router’s IP address, here is what you need to do –
For Windows:
- Connect your Windows computer to the Xfinity internet connection.
- Go to Start > Go to Run > Type Command Prompt > Press Enter.
- Type ipconfig > Press Enter.
- Your router’s IP address information will be given under the Default Gateway.
For Mac OS:
- Press cmd+space.
- Go to the Terminal window.
- Type ifconfig > Press Enter.
- Your router’s IP address will be given under the gateway option.
Xfinity Router Login Steps (Including Password Changing Steps)
Every router comes with a default set of usernames and passwords. This is used to access the router settings that are necessary to configure it. You need a device connected to the Xfinity router network and a working internet connection. Once you are done with these steps, here is what you need to do –
- Go to any web browser of your choice. We recommend using Safari (in the case of Mac OS X) and Chrome (in the case of other devices).
- Go to the address bar then type 10.0.0.1 and press Enter. You can also click on http://10.0.0.1 from over here.
- You need to enter the credentials on the login page. These credentials can be found at the back of the router/modem. Xfinity devices have the following default credentials: Username: admin & Password: password.
- Press Enter, and you will be logged in.
- Now you need to change the password since it is easy for people to guess the default password. This makes the entire network susceptible to hackers that can harm your (and the connected) devices. So, go to the Maintenance page.
- Select the admin username from the maintenance page. Every default user is the admin for the routers/admins.
- Go to the password option and change the password to a strong hexadecimal password.
- Click on Apply > Wait for the router to reboot > Done.
Xfinity Router – Steps to Change the WiFi Password and SSID
One of the most important steps in the case of owning an Xfinity device is to ensure that you have the best security features that it offers. One such feature is military-grade encrypted WiFi security (WPA2-PSK) which comes with heavy encoding. However, you won’t get this feature out of the box (yet). You must enable it via the Xfinity Router Login page (also known as the admin control panel). Here is what you need to do –
- First, you must log in to the Xfinity Router Login admin panel (steps already given above).
- After that, go to WLAN Settings > In case you have a dual-band router, select the frequency of the WiFi – 2.4Ghz/5Ghz.
- Select the option for secured network > Look for your preferred SSID.
- Select the security encryption of your choice > Set a strong password (hexadecimal value).
- Click on Apply.
- The router will reboot. Wait for it to restart.
- Done.
Please note that the same steps also apply to the 5Ghz wireless connection.
How to reset the Xfinity Router?
The steps to reset are pretty simple. It can be done either manually or by the admin panel itself.
- In case you wish to reset the router manually, press and hold the reset button while the router is turned on. It will restart, and all the lights will start glowing.
- There is a reset option given inside the admin console. Click on Factory Reset over there. Done.
