How to Login to the Spectrum Router?
You should connect the router to your system (PC or laptop) using a wired or wireless connection. This can be done using WiFi or by an Ethernet-based connection. After connecting, here is what you need to do –

- Open any web browser > Go to the address bar > Type http://192.168.0.1 or you can also type 192.168.0.1 > Press the Enter key.
- It will take you to the login page that will ask you to enter a username and password.
- The Spectrum Router has its username and password written at the backside > You can also use these credentials to continue –
- Username: admin
- Password: password
- These are the default administrator username and password to login.
- Press Enter and you will be logged in.
Since the router comes with default login credentials, it is advised that you update them to new ones. This is important and integral in solidifying the security of your network. This is how you can do that –
- When you have logged in to the Spectrum Router admin page > Go to Network/Router Maintenance Page.
- Select the admin username from the dropdown list > Select the New Password > Click on Apply.
- Done.
Change the Spectrum Router Password & SSID
All Spectrum routers come with a preset password and SSID. This way, it is easy for your computer system to know the network and set it up for you. However, it is very easy to crack into and thus, is very vulnerable. So, you should get them changed ASAP. Here are the steps to do that –
- Go to a web browser > Go to the address bar > Type 192.168.0.1 to log in to the router admin page.
- Enter the credentials > Press the Enter key to log in.
- Go to the Home Page and look for the Advanced Network Settings over there.
- There will be a Connectivity section over there that will contain the WiFi Network option.
- Please note that in case you are on a dual-band network then you will see separate options for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz respectively.
- Select your desired wireless network type > Click on the Basic tab.
- There will be an SSID field > Go to that field > Change its value from default to a new value of your choice. This will be the new name of your WiFi network connection.
- After that you need to scroll to the Security tab > Go to Wireless Password > Select the password encryption type > Preferably WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK.
- Set the Pre-shared Key value of your choice > This is the WiFi password.
- Once done, click on Apply.
- The router will reboot. You will have the new SSID and password once it successfully reboots.
How to Factory Reset the Spectrum Router?
- The first method to factory reset the router involves pressing and holding the reset button. Do this while the router is turned on. Once it restarts (all the lights will blink), that is the indication that the device has been reset.
- The other way involves logging in to the router’s admin panel > Go to Reboot & Reset > Click on Factory Reset > Click on YES > Done.
