Centurylink Router Login requires you to connect to the network by either using a wired or a wireless connection. The router login page is basically the setup page to configure the network channel. The connection can be possible via WiFi or via RJ45/Ethernet. Once the devices are connected, you need to access the admin page using the following IP: 192.168.0.1 Login. This URL can also be connected to using http://192.168.0.1. There are a lot of things that you can do from the Centurylink router admin page. Here is a list of some of the few features of 192.168.1.1:
- Setup, Configure & Modify – You can literally do anything from changing the login to altering the IP address (subnet) over here. The Centurylink Router Login page is your one-stop for all the tweaks and modifications related to your router or modem.
- Wired & Wireless Ease – Centurylink lets you play around with the network settings. For instance, you can set the WiFi name and password and even enable the 5Ghz wireless network. Custom firewalls can also be installed using the admin panel.
- Use your Router as a Repeater – You can modify your router and use it as an internet repeater using this feature. Just change the routing service to an extender service, and your normal router will turn into a repeater.
- Firmware Updates – If you are upgrading your internet connection and want the best out of your modem, the Centurylink Router admin page gives you the liberty of updating the firmware. Just download the latest firmware software and update.
How to log in to the Centurylink Router Admin page?
You should know how to log in to the router’s admin page. This can be done by using the default IP address – 192.168.0.1. In case you want to be 100% sure about your router’s IP address, here is what you need to do –
- Connect the Centurylink router to your Windows computer (or laptop).
- The connection can be wireless or even wired.
- Go to Start > Type CMD > Press Enter.
- Type ipconfig and press Enter.
- The IP address will be given under Default Gateway.
After that, you need to open any web browser and do the following steps –
- Go to the address bar and paste/type the Default Gateway address (192.168.0.1).
- Press Enter > You will get a login page.
- Enter these credentials over there – username: admin & password: password.
- These credentials can also be found printed on the back of every router.
- Done.
Once you have accessed the admin page, you should immediately change the login credentials. Having the default credentials harms the network (and its connected devices). Useful information can be stolen, devices can be hacked, and more harm can be done with unsecured connections. This is how to change the password –
- Go to the Router/Modem Maintenance Page.
- Select the Admin user from the dropdown menu.
- You will have to enter the New Password.
- Re-enter your password.
- Click on Apply & Update.
- Done.
Steps to change the WiFi Password & SSID using the Admin Panel
All routers and modems come with an open wireless network. Since many of these devices support plug-and-play, several people do not even add security encryption. However, keeping the network open and susceptible to hackers is not advised. Here is how you can change your SSID and password –
- You need to first login to the Centurylink admin page.
- Afterwards, you must go to Home > Network Settings > WLAN/Wireless Network Settings.
- Select your WiFi type – either 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz (normally written as 2.4G and 5G).
- Check the box that says Security Encrypted. This will ensure that it gets password protected.
- Choose the encryption type as WPA2-PSK > Set the password of your choice.
- The password can be hexadecimal with special characters.
- You will see the SSID option just below the WiFi channel option.
- Set the SSID (WiFi name) to whatever you want to.
- Once you are done with setting both the name and the password, click on Apply.
- The new settings will be applied after your router reboots.
- Done.
